Stories & Updates

We add new stories and updates every few weeks. Sometimes we're traveling, often there are cute moments to share or awesome highlights from the various competitions, and occasionally we run into some serious surprises.

Meet Jourdin, who took her first steps onto the volleyball court with no knowledge about the game on June 1, 2022. Despite the knowledge gap, she persevered through three grueling clinics and private coaching over that summer, earning a spot on the Fresno Heat U15 National team. A rare foot fracture interrupted her journey, but Jourdin's determination prevailed. 

Exactly a year later, she returned to the beach volleyball court, strengthening her body, and improving her skills. This allowed her to eventually make her mark on her high school JV team and the Fresno Heat U16 Travel team. Jourdin's positive spirit and leadership have earned her praises from her coach as a pleasure to have on the team and have turned her setback into a triumphant comeback, embodying resilience, growth, and a deep love for the game.

Meet William, he is 15 years old and is the most athletic of all the kids. This year William received his 1st Degree Black Belt. William is a part of the Varsity football squad, he plays Corner and Receiver. When football is not in session William does Track and participates in High Jump, Triple Jump and 100m Run. William Enjoys traveling for all his sporting events and hanging out with other athletes while between events.

Donovan is 20 years old and is currently playing football at Lewis and Clark as a Left guard. Donvan has learned to balance school, sports and working which he quickly learned was no easy feat. Donovan enjoys hosting new recruits who are deciding if they would like to commit to L & C, he reflects on how feeling welcomed while visiting the college had a major impact on choosing L & C for his education.

Dominic is the youngest of six and is 13 years old.  Dominic is very active in the community, he volunteers at many local events. Dominic takes pride in being a major sponsor of Muddyeyes, a local non-profit which focuses on holding multiple events during the year that serves families who are displaced in motels. In 2021, Dominic received his Junior Black Belt from Guido’s Martial Arts Academy.  Dominic continues to train and hopes to one day receive his 1st Degree Black Belt. Next year, he will be participating in Track and Cross County.

Meet Isaiah, his golf journey began at a young age, inspired by his great grandmother Gigi, and nurtured by his parents. Their weekends were filled with golf practice, blending classic techniques and modern methods. Entering high school, Isaiah's success not only showcased his talent but also the power of generational support. Gigi and his parents beam with pride, knowing they played a pivotal role in his love for the sport. 

As Isaiah continues his golfing journey, he carries Gigi's wisdom, as well as his parents’ and family’s support to become a member of Clovis High School’s golf team. His story highlights the enduring power of family bonds and the joy found in the game of golf.
